On Metamorphosis and Lifestyle Changes

Every human goes through various stages of change. Some are small iterations of our overall self that can’t be seen while others change the entire fabric of our being. Like a caterpillar on its way to a butterfly, lifestyle changes take time. Here’s an idea of what those stages might look like:

Stage 1: The Caterpillar

This version of you is the one that everyone knows as your true being. It’s what you already put out into the world before you decide to make a lifestyle change. Every primary characteristic, quirk, activity you take part in and belief you hold to be true is wrapped up into your caterpillar self.

You’re also incredibly susceptible to falling prey to the opinions of others. You’re not yet available to fully rise above like you eventually will in your butterfly form. These outside forces are convincing you to stay a caterpillar and let them dictate how you eat, sleep and crawl around.

Once you recognize you want to break free of your predators, then you’re ready to start the cocoon stage.

Stage 2: The Cocoon

You’re now ready to start your transformation into your true self. In order to do this, you need to find a safe environment where you can’t be attacked while you're stripping your body/mind down to build it up again.

This may require literally moving to a new environment which is okay. Remember, a lifestyle change takes time, but once it’s a habit...it becomes so ingrained in the fabric of your life that no environmental impact can stop it.

Once you find your ideal environment, it’s time to let everything you need to become a butterfly flow into your life. Research, read, learn and throw stuff against the wall to see what sticks. You’re safe in your cocoon to experiment so leave no stone unturned.

When your body/mind are finally built up and you’re ready to show the outside world the true you, it’s time to become a butterfly.

Stage 3: The Butterfly

You’ve finally made it. You’re ready to spread your wings and let the new you show the world what you’re made of. At first, friends and family may not recognize you after you spend a lot of time working on yourself in the cocoon stage, but change takes time.

If you stick to your guns and let your actions do the talking, eventually people will see your wings for what they are. Tools to spread joy throughout the world in your own special way.

Take the time to work on yourself and remember that making improvements to your lifestyle takes time and sometimes some humans won’t get it. But you will and that’s what matters.
