The Sovereign Individual

There’s a city out on the horizon that’s slowly coming into focus. A place where centralized systems don’t dictate the ebb and flow of activity. A destination where workers don’t just fractionalize their ownership in companies but also their time.

This vast oasis is one inhabited by sovereign individuals. Humans that act as their own banks, own their humble abodes and can simulcast themselves anywhere across the world in moments.

The pieces are all already there. A universal currency free from the tides of inflation and politics is sitting in millions of digital and hardware wallets. The universe that will eventually overlay our own is steadily being built up and inhabited. 

Large organizations are reducing the barriers to entry for VR devices and 5G broadband while others are pushing the horizons with sending low orbit satellites into space and creating augmented reality glasses.

In 5-10 years our independent human will have everything they need to wake up, go to work doing specific tasks anonymously for different DAOs (decentralized autonomous organizations) and use their avatar to meet with other humans right in their living room.
