On Control

Meditation is a powerful thing. Try closing your eyes for a few seconds and focusing all of your energy on just your right bicep. Visualize every drop of your blood flowing to that one spot.

Do you feel your heartbeat in your bicep, yet?

Now, move your heartbeat to your left calf muscle. It’s amazing what a simple act can show you about the power of your mind.

The bottom line is that you’re in control of a lot more than you think in your life. How you use that control is up to you, but it’s important to understand your inner workings.

If you don’t, there are plenty of companies that are just waiting to take control for you. Instagram can’t wait to start taking control of your attention, for example. Same with Facebook and every other social media site out there.

Pornography can’t wait to take control of your sex life, too. Same with popular fashion brands. If you lose track of yourself, it’s easy to wind up as a hodgepodge of different vices sponsored by large companies.

Remember, recognition is your number one weapon in this scenario. When you can see exactly who is controlling your life, it’s much easier to wrestle that control back.
