On Pokemon and Reaching New Heights

Pokemon took over the world in the 90’s. Every kid that had a gameboy had their eyes glued to it in the backseat of their parent’s car at all times. Each battle won came with it a boost in experience and skills.

The end goal was simple. Be the strongest Pokemon trainer. However, the approaches to becoming the best differed greatly based on the user.

Some kids would stay in the first town battling easier Pokemon to gain enough experience to feel comfortable enough to go to the next level while others would find stronger Pokemon to battle.

The second group of kids didn’t care as much if they failed because it was an opportunity to test themselves and complete their mission. They were ready to reach new heights.

This concept of testing your limits happens in everyday life, too. When someone wakes up in the morning, they can choose to go out and take on new missions they may fail at or they can do what they know is easy.

The big difference is that doing something easy every day doesn’t help us grow. Sure, it feels comfortable, but it’s not as fulfilling as pushing to get just a little bit better every day.

When you wake up tomorrow ask yourself this question.

Am I going to stay on the first level battling easy Pokemon or am I going to take on tougher missions?
