On Chess and Freedom

There are a lot of humans in the world and each one is playing their own game. Some let the rules of the chess board control their lives and never move past the pawn stage. They are comfortable with moving one space at a time and are more likely to fall victim to other pieces on the board.

Other humans, however, graduate more to a knight or bishop mindset. They’re willing to take bigger risks for bigger rewards and can navigate multiple spaces and even the entire board if they find the right opening. They can play more of an offensive role and dictate their own strategy rather than just make small progress.

Lastly, there’s a rare role that all humans should strive for. The queen. This piece is the epitome of freedom and can navigate the board in any way it pleases. It controls the game and can turn the tide of any battle or strategy.

It’s up to you to recognize what stage of the game you’re in and strive to live like the queen in chess rather than the pawn.
