On One Simple Question
Who am I doing this for?
This is the one simple question that every human should ask themselves when it comes to joy. There are so many people and entities out there that expect things from you. Act this way, speak that way and, of course, you can’t do that and be successful. All of these declarations are the chains that weigh our soul down.
Recognition and action are the two skeleton keys that can unlock all of these chains and free you from the noise of society.
The next time you think about a large purchase like a luxury car where you need to take on debt...ask the question. Who am I doing this for?
If it’s for society because they expect you to buy nice things when you’re making a decent amount of money, that’s not for you. If it’s to impress your neighbors or friends, that’s not for you.
The next step is easy when you ask yourself the question. If it’s not for you, don’t do it. After a short amount of time you’ll start to see that exclusion of things that don’t bring you joy makes your life a lot easier. The weight of those chains slowly starts to disappear.
You’re officially you again.
