On Scientists
You may not know it yet, but you’re a scientist. We all are!
Every day we’re out in the world testing different hypotheses and seeing what sticks. When something produces a bad result, we go back to the drawing board and rethink our approach. When another thing produces a good result, we replicate it.
Where we get in trouble, however, is when we assume that because something works it is the best option for us. We begin to shirk our experimental nature in favor of saving time and taking the easy road.
One of the most valuable things we can do as humans is take periods of reassessment every now and then. Even if it’s only once a year, switching up our routines and trying new things is imperative to personal and professional growth.
Remember, scientists don’t settle for good enough. They’re constantly trying to poke holes in their theories because that’s what makes them stronger and better over time.
